The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) is planning to conduct annual regular examinations for students of classes 10th, 11th, and 12th starting from the third week of February 2025.
A senior JKBOSE official informed Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the board is working on scheduling the exams between February 10 and February 15, although no official dates have been finalized. The move aims to align the academic calendar with the earlier November-December schedule, enabling students to resume studies without delay.
“We are trying to conduct the exams a month earlier than usual. This will allow students to align with the November-December academic session,” the official said.
To ensure minimal disruption to students’ academic progress, the board plans to grant provisional admissions to the next class while awaiting results. “We aim to declare the results within 45-50 days of the exams, followed by a few more days to finalize preparations,” the official added.
Transition to Old Academic Calendar
The decision to reschedule exams follows the government’s announcement to restore the traditional academic calendar for classes up to 9th grade. Earlier, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah emphasized that while the November-December schedule could not be reinstated for classes 10th to 12th in 2024, the transition would be completed by 2025.
Speaking on the subject, Omar stated, “For students of 10th to 12th classes, exams will be held before winter vacations starting in 2025.”
The revised schedule aims to streamline the academic calendar, minimizing disruptions and enabling students to maintain continuity in their studies. Further updates and the official date sheet for the board exams are expected to be released soon by JKBOSE.
